The biggest question is... did Sony do a schoolboy and change up and finish their presentation after seeing the Microsoft conference? It seems that everything they did was the antithesis of Microsoft and a tad smarmy, with quite a few digs at the competition at the start.
The opening was also a bit sycophantic, effectively saying 'We love you gamers...really we do..not like them other company..' and 'PlayStation is all about games'
It looks like the Vita is Sony's version of SmartGlass, while this means that the hardware is consistent, it does mean that to use the Remote Play feature you need to own a Vita, whereas with SmartGlass all that is needed is a smartphone or tablet, and lets be honest, most gamers will have one...
Gran Turismo 6 looked nice, and dare I say more realistic, or maybe more accurate, natural than Forza 5, well the environments did. DriveClub however, had the same plasticy unnatural look that affected Forza... must be a next gen thing.
What's with the 1980's aesthetic on both the Xbox One and PS4? Alao, am I the only one who thinks the PS4 looks like they took an Xbox One, shrank it down, and skewed it a bit?
Sony couldn't miss out on the entertainment sector, thankfully not much and no TV, TV, TV, TV!!! but they did have to spout how much entertainment there is and how many people use it... of course not mentioning that the majority is probably US only.
But the games... Sony LOVES the indies, well someone has to on console... it's good to see one of the major players embracing the emerging trend of smaller titles from smaller studios that are purely games trying to be games, not movies. I also enjoyed the dig at themselves exclaiming " no giant enemy crab" during the OctoDad presentation.
Sony weren't without their own technical issues, with the Assassin's Creed demo freezing at various points throughout. Seems like the gremlins have taken up residence in LA... or was it a clever link to Watch Dogs, what with all the hacking in that game? But it sure does look suh-weet.
And $399 again doesn't equal £349, but that kicks Microsofts price, even taking into account the ~£55 for the PSEye that you might need / want to fork out for. Nice big cheer for this too! Although you have to wonder if they waited for Microsoft to announce their price, then considered and altered theirs to get peoples attention...
No Used game restrictions - nice big cheer there...no DRM...can trade, lend and keep forever.. ouch, Microsoft's balls must ache... that's all Sony had to do and say to win E3. Bit too much Destiny for my liking though...
More good news is, the PS4 is region free, something that was later mentioned on Twitter.
I appears that the internet is very much saying Sony have won E3 and destroyed Microsoft... while this might be true from the presentations, but the real test will come November / "this Holiday"... although if the PS4 hasn't fixed the shanky thumbsticks on the controller, I'll have a tough decision on what to buy first... :/ but I'll be sticking with my 360 and Ps3 for a bit I feel.
